I just have to say that this whole free hugs thing has to be the most
brilliant thing ever thought of by man.
If I could have been, I wish
I were the first to hug you....but I wasn't...so oh well. Free Hugs
is an inspirational and admirable cause and I am proud to be on your
mailing list. thank you.
~Amira

Hey Jason,
I just wanted to let you know that I've worn my Free Hugs
t-shirt so much that it's worn through! Because of your vision, I have
connected with so many people. When I wear my t-shirt I feel like your
mom is smiling down on me from Heaven. I wish you well and you remain
my prayers. Hugs, Rebecca
PS. I'm going to order a new t-shirt soon. :)
~Rebecca - Oregon
Thanks for the shirt!
It's refreshing to see a good-news story once in a while when you turn
on the tv.
~Steven
My name is Joan and I wanted to let you know what I applaud you for your
efforts in the Free Hugs Campaign.
I am sorry that your mother's
passing had to be the reason but it's a great way to keep her spirit
alive as well as everyone else's. I actually had the idea myself and
started asking around cities to see if I even was allowed, when I came
across your website and saw that it is already in full swing. Now I am
going to just help you spread the hugs and love around. I think that
more people need hugs to make them smile and feel happy. If just for
one moment it can make a big difference in their lives then we did our
jobs. I believe very much in the idea of it mostly because there is so
much hatred around the world and that we need to experience more love
and closeness.
~Joan Marie
I went to the Champlain Valley Fair in Essex Junction, VT
...and saw two
teenagers walking around with pink signs that said Free Hugs. I
watched them for a bit, knowing what it was all about, and saw that no
one was hugging them. I always told myself that if I saw a sign, then
whoever was holding it better hang on. As you may have guessed, I
hugged them both. Now I know that sometimes people do things to be
cool or draw attention to themselves. Even if this was the case, it
felt so good to hug a complete stranger. No strings. Just an
acknowledgement that you are there from someone who's name you don't
even know. I hug my girlfriend everyday, and love it, but this felt
great too. I just wanted to share my story and tell you that you doing
something wonderful.
~Robert Smythe, Keeseville, NY
My oldest kid, Raul Alejandro came from school promoting free hugs.
He
asks me to browse in the net for the site. I was surprised with this
GREAT idea and the amount of people who had been impacted.
Congratulations, this is something very refreshing on these difficult
times. Please continue with this super fantastic attitude.
Regards,
~Raul Nazario and family
Jason,
I was sitting in a cafe in the San Telmo section of Buenos Aires
during a street fair last Sunday. My friend and I watched as 2 people
walked down the street holding signs above their heads which read
"ABRAZOS GRATIS." Not familiar with Spanish, I had no idea what they
meant. I began to think these people were lobbying or protesting
something, as they were drawing a crowd to themselves. Then I noticed
that people were coming up to them and hugging them, so I thought, "Oh
great - more protestors!" But I thought it was odd that everyone was
smiling - surely protestors couldn't be that happy about whatever they
were protesting against? Then my friend, in her limited knowledge of
Spanish, told me that the signs meant "Free Hugs." I had never heard
of your movement (I know - what rock have I been living under?), but I
loved the idea - so I ran out of the cafe and right up to one of them
and gave her a big bear hug. She was so joyful and friendly. I told
her I was from New York and she told me she was from Lima. The
experience made me feel wonderful - that people were roaming the
streets offering this joyful human experience. When I recounted this
story to an Argentine friend, he told me about the international
movement so I decided to look it up online and found your website. I
think it's a great idea and I'll never forget how excited I was when I
realized what those people were offering. Thanks for inspiring such a
great thing.
~Gary Di Franco, Staten Island
Jason,
It is amazing how such an easy action can have such a heavy impact.
Free Hugs is impacting the world. The first day I read about you and
your story I met up with some friends and we went free-hugging
downtown. It was an unforgettable experience. I have always loved a
hug, but I have never thought about just going out and giving complete
strangers hugs. You are a great man Jason. You have impacted and will
impact far more people that you will ever know, and for that you will
be blessed. Free Hugs has given love to those who need it and serves
as a platform for which all people should try to step up to.
~Mark, U.S. Air Force, Korea
Dear Jason,
I know that most companies send out "personal" emails, thanking their
customers for making a purchase. Somehow these companies seem to think that
I'll be touched by an automated email response, sent off because I bought a
t-shirt.
There were two things in your email that struck me, and touched me very
much. First of all, the little detail about "having a happy Thursday". It
was a tiny detail that helped personalize this email - which you must send
to hundreds, if not thousands, of people - and I must say, it was a very
striking personal detail. To go the extra mile and make sure the date is
correct proves to me that this was more than an automatic response to an
electronic transaction.
Second was your promise that you would personally email me tot ell me if my
shirt was on back-order. Another tiny detail that must take up a bit of time
each day, but you know what? I think that little bit of time was worth it.
Now you have a 17-year-old from Texas who has had his cynicism blown away,
and who will serve the cause with a glad heart, knowing that it is for a
good purpose, and run by a good person.
My name is Anthony Sterrett, and I'd like to thank you for your service and
your caring attitude. It is that which only solidifies the message that the
Free Hugs campaign strives to deliver: one of unconditional caring for every
other human being.
~Your (touched) friend, Anthony Sterrett
Hi Jason,
I recently attended the winnipeg folk festival with my free hugs sign and my
counter. I hugged over 2000 people in 4 days and every single person was
toched by it. I had stories about free hugs in other countries, people
would walk a mile and then have to turn back just to hug me.
Thanks,
~Mike.
I’m writing from Santiago, Chile.
Around two weeks ago I was walking by Av.
Providencia and I saw the letter “Free Hugs” in a corner. I had listened
about this idea and without to think I said “I want a free hug!” But the
surprise was my own reaction… I really needed a hug, a little of love in my
life. My tears come to my eyes, very fast and from that day I try to give a
free hug to my friends or family and free smiles to the rest of the people.
Thank you, this is a wonderful idea. Maybe you don’t know it, but you always
need a hug.
Bye,
~Claudia Sepúlveda
Dear Friend,
It's a bit strange to me write "friend" to a person I've never met, but
that is what we believe in. I'm from Poland and I had very bad times in
my life. I was close to end my life and there was no hugs around me, but I
believed that there are people who knows what's really important in life
and that I can be a part of it. I was thinking about the same thing with
FREE HUGS before i got to know that it's really happening. I've always
been too shy and afraid to do it. I can't tell u how happy I am. I admire
u and your nice work:) I could say thousands of nice things, but the most
important in it is that FREE HUGS came to little town in Poland and gave
power to one more person. I would like to share it with everybody around
me. As for now I'm sending a virtual sunny hug to u!!!
~Little Ewa from Poland
Dear Jason,
Thank you so much for your letter. Believe me I am the one who is
really honored to be called a friend by you and to be able to keep
your Mother's hope for love alive through me. It makes me very proud
and happy. I come from Poland and tell all my friends about your
wonderful idea of Free Hugs. I hope one day it will become very
popular and well known in my country.
Best wishes for you.
~Dorota - Ploand
I heard about this program only a few days ago...
...but it touched me in a
way very few things ever have. Getting this today of all days must be
a sign. I was so stressed out today. I was shaking, but thinking about
this program and what it means helped calm me down. To think that in a
world full of hate, mistrust, politics, and war; such a simple gesture
of kindness such as a hug could mean so much. For that I say thank you
to you and the fine folks you work with.
Thank you again.
~Christian - U.S. Army "Korea"
Free Hugs is an amazing campaign!
a simple gesture like a hug can
brighten up the darkest of days, I know from experience, but most
people don't realize it. When my world is crumbling down on top of me
all I need is a hug from anyone, even a complete stranger, and things
don't seem that bad. I truly appreciate and support your efforts.
Free Hugs for EVERYONE!!!!! YAY!!!!!
~Sarah
Hi Jason,
Free hugs just sound like one of those steps we (finally) seem to make
in the direction of global enlightenment. Cant wait to see true
Humanity to unfold.
Keep going!
You are doing an awesome job.
With love and respect
Hans - Denmark
Jason,
Just the other day I made a free hugs sign and took it to school and
walked around with it giving free hugs. Youre amazing! <3
Tonda
Hey Jason,
The reason I looked into this movement was that I was quite blown away
when I saw groups of people giving away 'free hugs' in amsterdam a
couple times over recent months. Once I stood there with my friends
just watching them for an hour, it was amazing to see. Particularly
memorable was when one girl wearing a big teddy bear outfit went up to
a particularly surly looking policeman, he caved in and couldn't help
but hug her back and smile.
Great stuff, I'm gonna get one of those t-shirts. :-)
Cheers,
Ken - The Netherlands
Hi Jason,
I just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you and
Free Hugs. I can't wear my t-shirt enough! I was raised by a loving
adoptive family but they didn't hug very much. I really learned to
love when I met my birth mom when I was 18. Still, hugging sometimes
takes an effort. When I wear my pink Free Hugs t-shirt, it reminds my
family to HUG ME since I'm not a very good hug initiator. I know it
sounds weird but that's the way I am. Anyway, I thought you might like
to hear a different spin on Free Hugs and how my t-shirt has helped my
family. I'll get you a picture sometime soon.
Take care,
Rebecca - Oregon
Hey Jason,
I'm wearing my Free Hugs t-shirt with pride. Your mama
would be so proud of what you have done. Free Hugs!
Rebecca - Oregon
Hello...
My name is Alexandra and I'm from Porto-Portugal and here we
have done free-hugs one time and every body loved it!!! I belive that
this is the BEST idea that ever occurred to any people in the world!!!
Jason Hunter is that person that should be our guide...we MUST give
hugs to every one..and hug our life!!!
HUGS (**)
~Alexandra - Porto-Portugal
Let me first start off with saying I'm sixteen years old residing in
New Hampshire in a small off town of less than 4,000...
For the last
few years I have been dealing with severe depression, to the point
where I don't eat, don't sleep, don't go to school, I just stay in my
room all day. I saw the Free Hugs and I have to say, I broke right
down and tears, and to be honest, I still am shedding tears as I type
this. I can't thank you enough for starting such a thing, And if more
people like you all existed, my condition wouldn't. I can't thank you
enough.. I really can't.. Thank you..
~Chris - New Hampshire
We have a neighbor who always gives and expects a hug whenever we visit her.
You might expect that from a 90 year old person. But she decided to go a bit
farther with that idea. She sings, plays the piano (quite nicely) and has
her own CD with many songs. One of my favorites is I Want A Hug. She'll play
and sing it for you at the drop of a hat. She has her own website with a
movie of her performing and teaching the song to a live audience in a local
club. It's a joy to see.
Anyway, her site is http://www.suziegrey.com/ Enjoy, everyone.
~Sean, Seattle, Wa.
Dear Free Hugs,
Astonishing how in a few seconds, with an open heart, doors can be opened
that were closed for many many long years.
~Michel, Belgium
Dear Jason,
I watched your video, and to be honest it brought me to tears. I
just wanted to say thank you for showing people that there is still love out
there. I will be sending this message on everywhere i go and to all the
people i meet.
Thank you so much for bringing this wonderful experence into my life, and i
hope what you do can help everyone in the world.
With hugs,
~Steven - United States Navy
Hello,
I have a poor English but I want to ask you to come to São
Paulo, Brazil....We really need your help and I really apreciate your
campaign.....YOU CAN CHANGE THE WORLD!!!....please one more time come
to Brazil!
-Ilan - Brazil
Today at school, after a long and tiring day of boring and endless
worksheets...
...and two days after seeing the free hugs video, I decided that
I would tape a free hugs sign to my shirt and wear it for the rest of the
school day. I got a good amount of hugs although some were from the same
people. It was kind of sad when noticed that many guys were afraid to hug
another guy because they thought it was gay and that there is a problem
with that. In the one hour i wore the sign, i got about 25-30 hugs and i
made a few people (including myself) smile. It was great fun and i felt
good about it so i think this weekend me and my friends are going to go
doing the same thing at a big area of local shops in our city.
Thanks for this wonderful idea.
-James in Richmond, Virginia
Hi!
I ordered a free hugs T-shirt a few months ago.
I just wanted to tell you that I wore the T-shirt to
the zoo. I went to the Brookfield Zoo in Brookfield,
IL on Monday, March 26, 2007. As you can imagine, the
zoo is a very busy place. And that particlar day was
very busy. You might have heard of this zoo. It is a
very well known zoo.
Anyway, I had many compliments on the T-shirt. This
one guy actually came up to me to give me a hug. We
were all laughing!
Thank you for the T-shirt! I will continue to wear it!
Sincerely,
-Lara - Brookfield, Il
Thanks FRIEND. I wish I can give you a HUG..

I'm in france at the moment,
I'm
originally Finnish and this year I'm staying in France. Only 2,5 months
left here and then I'll return to Finland. I saw 'FREE HUGS' ad on the
TV and just thought it was an awesome idea and I decided to join you. A
small thing to do which makes me feel better here away from my country,
far from my family and friends. And I'm really worried about AIDS
speading all around the world, it's getting bad. It's US who can decide
what will happen in the future. Thank you for creating FREE HUGS. It's
incredibly important.
-Laurel - Finland
Hey, I am Levi,
I live in Belgium (that's why my
English is not so great) and I just wanted to say that I'm a huge fan of
your FREE HUGS company. A few years ago I started hugging my friends,
instead of giving them a hand or a kiss. I hugged them as a greeting, but
also just to let them feel I care about them. Now, a few years later, all my
friends hug when they meet eachother! I also like to hug random people on
the street, although they don't always like that.
Anyway, FREE HUGS is a beautiful and warm signal to the world and I hope it
will spread to all the people all around the world.
With much love and hugs!
Levi.
Thank you for starting off Free Hugs.
I heard about this months ago
but I never got up to the actual site, until last saturday a young
girl came up to me with a sign that said 'Ilmaisia haleja' (that's
free hugs in finnish) and gave me the biggest, most loving hug I've
ever got. What you do with FH is absolutely
beautiful, everyone in the world should be like you, Jason. You're
doing a great thing. The world's gonna change if we keep on trying.
With things like FH more and more people wake up to what's really
going on - and try to change it.
Love,
Sofia - Finland
I was walking through the Harajuku area in Tokyo Japanwith my
colleagues
and in the middle of the (well-known) extra-ordinary
Harajuku people, my attention got caught
to the 5 persons standing in line with "free-hugs for peace&love" signs and
sweaters; And then I saw this girl looking at me, signing with her head as
saying "make me smile and give me a hug". As I had never heard of "free
hugs" before - in the Netherlands where I live nothing comes for free! - I
first did not know what to do and whether this was "normal"; but a few
seconds later I thought, why not if it makes a person happy!? What happened
while walking to her was that even before the hug I already started to smile
and kept on smiling! What a simple hug - even from a stranger - can bring
joy and happiness to people!! This idea is the most unselfish, peaceful act
I believe I have ever experienced! What a good idea!
Michael - The Netherlands
Hi Jason!
I just want to say that I am really proud of you and your company. I come
from France and here..people are really suspicious, and dont really see they
need hugs...But everybody need it! Im sorry for my bad english. I will try
to speak about "free hugs" around me and in the festivals where I go.
And I hope "free hugs" will have a looong and beautiful life. I give
you a hug and a kiss, have a good night!
Elean - France
Hey Jason,
First and foremost, I want to thank you for starting (and spreading)
the concept of free hugs. I live in Chicago, Illinois and I was
shopping on Michigan Avenue (during Thanksgiving week) and noticed a
couple of people holding free hug signs. There were a couple of
people who passed those giving out free hugs up, but I was not one of
them.
Living in such an urban setting promotes a sense of ambiguity leaving
people feeling alone when they really are surrounded by others. It is
nice to feel wanted and loved--even for a moment being embraced by a
stranger. The whole idea of free hugs is WONDERFUL!!!
Thanks, again Jason!
Inanna - Chicago, IL
Hello Free Hugs Friends..
My name is Jacob and I cannot stop smiling after I saw people hugging
each other for the fun of doing it..in my country..PERU...
I want to do it , too..I think this is what it takes to change the
world or to try to make it a better place !
Jacob - NYC
Dear Jason!
I'm Antoaneta from Bulgaria and I would like to thank for this great free
hugging movement that you've started! I love this idea and I would love to
take part of it. Right now I'm in Spain and I'm interested where I can find
people who participate in the movement here?
I was so excited when I saw the videos of the free huggs. That would really
make someone's day or even life better!
Thanks again and keep doing it!
Many huggs (free):
Antoaneta - Bulgaria
I can't believe what a beautiful idea this is.
I immediately sent it
to as many of my friends as I could think of. I am always touched by its
simplicity and effectiveness. May Josephine and Jason be blessed for all
time.
Rex - Austria
Hi Jason,
I am Wang, a senior high student from China. Thanks for your hard work!
Happy New Year! Sometimes I feel that my life is empty. I have to do
things to make the most of my life. I thought you were a very kind
person when I heard about you, and I am sure that Mrs. Hunter will be
so glad to see what you have done and what you are doing.
In China, many people are still not so outgoing and direct, though most
people are warm-hearted. I decide to warm people with my actions
(friendly smile or something like that.) I will try to hug them also.
Thanks.
Wand - China
Our school has yr 12's jackets arriving soon and you get one in your
graduating year.
Mine says "Free Hugs" on the back. You're an amazing
and incredibly inspirational person, Jason.
Emma - Australia
Hey,
I saw your video and it touched me so deeply what Free Hugs is doing.
Even people at my school (which has a nasty tendency to be unloving)
has started to give out free hugs! Thanx
Laura Canada
Hello Mr Hugs :)
i would like to thank you what you are doing with the
iniciative FREE HUGS. I think it is very necesary we all get and give
hugs. Im from madrid and had never herd of this untill today when I
went out the "metro" (underground) and saw some people with cardboards
saying "ABRAZOS GRATIS" wich i guess you know what it means. it was
great, earlier before i had an exam that i think i will fail and was a
bit sad. the free hugs cheered me up. :)
thanks! :-)
Sebastian Laiseca, MADRID SPAIN
Hi,
My name is Bilal and I come from the middle east, I currently live in
Canada, and I was really impressed with your idea. I was watching videos on
youtube the other day and one of the FREE HUGS videos happened to be one of
them. I didn't know that love and care existed anymore in this world. Keep
up the good work and if there's anything I could do to help this community
grow I'll be more than happy to do so.
~Bilal
Hi,
My name is Nikki and I live in Calgary Alberta. I saw your video not
to long ago and I think you all do such an amazing thing. I know the
difference a hug can make in someones life. A family member of mine
is dying from ALS. Everyday is a larger fight than the last but with
all that, he feels so loved by the people in his life. On many
occasions he has said to me that a hug can cure anything. The pain
that he has endured could never take away the love he has felt over
the years. When I watched your video, I went out to the street in
front of my office and gave hugs to as many people as I could. You
have probably given so many people the strength it takes to go on
everyday and to me you will always be angels among us.
Thank you very much.
~Nikki
Jason,
I don't think I have ever felt so humble as in the presance of the
Unity Village folks in Liberty City. My heart was about to bust after
giving some of my first free hugs. WOW what a feeling of love. I felt
so truly blessed on 02-03-07 when I first met you and some of the
Free-Hugs family. Thanks so much for encouraging me to come and join
you to lend a helping hand. I met some truly beautiful people with a
kind and generous spirit in those who live in Unity Village. I will
never forget.
~Debra - Pompano Beach, Fl.
Hi man.
You're doing a great job! I wish the world hade more people like you.
Thanks to all at FREE HUGS!
~Andre
Mr. Hunter,
I am inspired by your act of selfless and kindness.
The Free Hug movement will eventually move the
world-wide Consciousness in a positive way. I hope it
will continue to be like wildfire. Moving quickly from
one place to the next.
I do not have the courage yet. To go forward and do
what you do. Mentally, my intent is for world peace by
peace and not by war.
Thank you again for what you have done.
Peace,
~Matthew
Dear Jason,
It is I that thank you and your mum so much and all the people joining
this wonderful quest, you put an action were i had a dream, you make
the reality of my faith happen. Every time we watch the videos we feel
so touched and have the contageous urge to hugg one another, when i
read your letters, i get a flow of energy so strong, through and
within me, feel so full of joy, belief and my eyes are full of tears ;)
I believe
Unconditional Love prevails
~Lena
Hi Jason,
Just wanted to congratulate you on your wonderful project. It is
beautiful to see someone open to an inspired moment in their life,
follow it, and then inspire others with it. I'm glad it has been so
warmly received; you make being an optimist even easier.
~Sharon Toronto, CA.
Dear Jason,
It was my greatest pleasure to discover your web site and amazing
journey.
It do think your mission is wonderful and do sincerely believe that it
is
just what this world needs. I will do my very best to try to add a
small
part to it.
Keep up the great work! I can't wait to receive the next news letter!
Have an awesome New Year yourself and lots of free hugs!
Your friend from Canada,
~Caroline, Canada
Dear Jason,
I just want to thank you for going with your heart and starting
something so wonderful in honor of your mother. I too lost my mother
at the age of 20. That's been 16 years ago. Not a day goes by that I
wish her lovely smile and laugh were here for the ride with me. My
whole goal of last year was to be more mindful of others and do
everything in a positive manner. This year I'm going to do all that
but with love and shining my light on others just like you have to the
world.
Much Love and Many Blessings for the New Year!!!
~Angela

Dear Jason,
Thank you for personally writing me, it makes me feel like more than
just an email to you. And if there were no you, there would be no us

more so, running it and all. I hope you have a wonderful new year.
~~Will~~
Hi everyone!
Man, I don't know what's going on in Seoul, Korea, but there are free
huggers every weekend. Its so wonderful!
I was out walking around the main souvenir-shopping district one
day and I saw my first free hugger. I walked away from that hug and my
smile lasted for hours. So, one day I decided to try it myself. I
made myself a sign and went to a-huggin. I thought that Koreans might
be hesitant to hug a foreigner. In just an hours time we received
about 100 hugs. It was so heartwarming. The best part was, we ran into
3 other free huggers the same day! So, now when I'm feeling a little
bit blue I know just where to go to get my free hug for the day. I'm
so happy to be in Korea! Keep on huggin,
~Amy, Seoul Korea
A hug can cheer you when you're blue
A hug can say "I love you" or "Gee I hate to see you go"
A hug is "wecome back again and i'ts great to see you, where've you been?"
A hug can soothe a small child's pain and bring a rainbow after the rain.
A hug delights, warms and charms, it must be why God gave us arms.
Thanks for passing your hugs!!
~Robyn
Dear Jason,
The world truly needs more love in it and you have found an amazing
way to bring a bit back. You are truly inspirational to me. I
recently went through a time of deep dark grief and learning about
Free Hugs helped me begin to trust humanity again. You have been an
angel of sorts in my life, so thank you for being so brave in sharing
your story and creating Free Hugs.
~Kattie
i think what you have started is amazing and a worthy cause to be
followed.
Thank you for not being afraid to say you appreciate people for who
they are.
~Mary
Mate, you are an inspiration.
Just reading what other people have
written, it's amazing. Congratualtions on having the guts to do and
make yourself feel better after the passing of your mother. You walk
through the city (Perth) and no one makes eye contact. You have
changed that and people all over the world are following suit. The
only thing that can come from this is GOOD.
You are a champion
~John - Perth
First of all, I must say that I've enjoyed your Website.
I love giving
and receiving hugs. When I saw this Website I immediately thought of a
very good friend of mine. I've known her a few short years but I
consider her as my sister. She is the sweetest, nicest most gentle
person in the world. And of course she is a HUGGER. There are no hand
shakes or pats on the back. You are greeted and departed with a hug. I
have Lupus and a year ago I dedicated a page to her on my Website
because of how much she has inspired me to be positive and continue to
have faith in God. At the time she was on Maternity Leave and she drove
at least 30 mins to come to my job, tears and all to give me a hug. You
gotta love her and how much she expresses how much she cares and
appreciates someone. She sends hugs through email, text messages, and
through the telephone. I'm so glad we are sister-friends and I don't
know what I'd do without her hugs or her friendship.
~Shanice - Maryland
Jason, I love this.
I never heard of it until today. I think it is
wonderful. I was thinking that here in El Paso,TX I could help you
out? I think this weekend I will make a poster and walk through the
shopping malls and see if I can brighten up somes day. I love that God
says we need more of this in the world. Thank you my Jesus for giving
such a caring person on this earth. God Bless
~Chuck - El Paso, TX
I've always been the hugger in my family.
Even in college, I still
find reasons to give people hugs. My friends and family always say
that I give the greatest hugs, even if I have no reason for the hug
in the first place. I think the reason is because I put so much love
into them. I recently went back to my old middle school and I was
carrying a Free Hugs sign (I had been in the downtown area of
Claremont at that time). I had gone to the school a few times to
visit former teachers. One of the kids looked at my sign and asked
what I was protesting for. I told him I wasn't protesting, I was
giving free hugs. The kid then looked at me and asked, "Are hugs
normally expensive?". I laughed and said no. He smiled and ran at me
with a huge hug, which I gladly returned. He then told me that his
family doesn't like physical contact, so he rarely receives any hugs
from them. As I walked around the school (doling out hugs where
needed) that little kid stayed in my mind and it made me wonder how
many kids like that there are in the world. That's why I keep giving
my hugs because I never know when someone might actually need it.

This afternoon,
me and my exchange students friends and some
brazillians were walking by Av. Paulista in São Paulo, Brazil when I
see a whole bunch of people with signs saying: FREE HUGS/ Abraços
grátis ( free hugs in portuguese) I first tought it was some kind of
candid camera in Brazil or something but I gave them a hug anyways! I
felt good doing it! then we decided to join. We were planning to fool
around for about 5 or 10 min top. But we ended up staying for over 3
hours hugging people! I´ve never felt that good! It´s awesome to be
able to help so many people in a such a simple way! So many people
came crying or cold towards a hug but came out of it so much happier!
It was great! I loved doing it! Thank you guys for the idea! It´s
sweet! Let´s spread joy into the world! Let´s hug, people! Hugs to
everyone! Thank you!
~Flavio - Brazil
Hi!
The first time I heard of your project was in the city nearby where I
went shopping with my friend. I saw a couple of girls standing in the
street with two huge signs that said: "FREE HUGS" I must admit that I
thought that they were a bit crazy but of course I did accept the hug
that they gave me. Afterwards I discovered that that little thing made
my day. It's weird but it kind of shows that people care! Keep up the
good work!
~Riëtte- Holland
Hi!
I just want to let you know that someone, in some part of Brazil, is really
happy to see that finally a man paid attention to the value of giving or
receiving a HUG!!! For me, this is the most beautiful way to express your
fraternity to someone!!!
I'm really greateful!
Congratulations. You're a kind of illuminated human being.
Be happy!
Hug
~Alexandre - Brazil

Your website & ideas are absolutely hysterical! Keep up the good work!
~Dora - Virginia
Jason... Hi, from NORCALI again.
--tall girl hugs--
I just wanted to share some stuff with you.
Faith, 10, hugs around the playground at lunch recess. This is a
pretty uptight money and power filled area too, and the kids have
_totally_ caught on! Usually people are physically standoffish
here.... and I think I've now, sporting my FREE HUGS tshirts of
course, officially been grabbed and hugged in the grocery store, drug
store, and many a parking lot by EVERY SINGLE member of this ultra
conservative community at this point. YAY!! Soooo great.
~Wendy and Faith - San Franciso, CA
Dear Jason and "free-huggers,"
I recently saw you video and ordered T-shirts from your website. The
order arrived the day before my 17 year-old daughter was diagnosed with
Type I diabetes (a horrible disease!). She wore your T-shirt on the
first day back to school and was able to give as good as she got...
We are all one...
Thank you.
Peace,
~marie
You're a true inspiration.
You have enlightened me!
Thanks for being you!

Hi:
My name is Margarita and i'm from Bogota, Colombia. I saw your website
and i just simply love it...
I thought that it was great and I want you to know that I start that
campaign in my school no matter that your organization isn't here in
Colombia. I hope some day you begin this awsome campaign in my country
and I'll be the first one to join it...
I'm a very happy, very positive and bringing smiles and confidence to
many people...so I hope you make me part of your team.
Love and FREE HUGS,
~Margarita
Hi Jason:
Thanks for the e-mail, not all days the person that wants to change the
world with the action of giving hugs free writes to my address.
The first time i heard about giving hugs free, i thought, what the hell??,
everybody needs a hug, and its funny, because after a hug you feel thousan
times better, so for this i have to say to you THANKS. I truly belive
in your idea.
Please recive from me a really big hug, although it would be amazing to
receive one from you.
Best regards and have lovely time.
~Carlos.
Jason,
for two and a half months I've been skateboarding across Australia in
aid of three children's charities, doing what I love whilst trying to make a
difference. Three weeks ago a lady drove past - a complete stranger - got
out of her car and gave me a hug. Now myself and my support team are staying
at the lady's house in Melbourne and her boyfriend has just told me about
Free Hugs. I have another 2000km of skating to do, out to the east coast and
then north through Sydney to Brisbane, and I'd like to do my bit for Free
Hugs as I roll along. I like your philosophy, I like how a good hug can make
a long hard day a great day.
Keep doing what you're doing,
~Dave - Australia
Hi!!
I'am Lukas Paris From Poland. I Found a link to your Site. I'am Very
fascinated by your cause. I didn't know that in this world lived
somebody, who can like and love all peoples, and who can give so many
smiles and joy. I Joined Your Idea and I have hope. I see smiles on
people faces and we Can Change The World!! Thanks For Your Idea. I
will popularize it in Poland.
Yours truly,
~Lukasz Paryz - Poland
Dear brother:
I wanna say "Thank God!!! My father! Thank you. Thanks for the love
you gave me. Just like you give it to everybody. Thank you for the
chance that you gave me to get the "Free-Hugs." And also thank you for
letting me know I have such a gold- hearted brother----Jason Hunter."
I am deeply moved by what you do. And I agree with the words "we all
need one." You see, I am a Chinese. There are less people that are
touched by the "Free-Hugs" like me. So I wish I can give you a hand if
you need...
I love you my God! And I love u too, my brother!
~Jeff - China
I'm a girl from Chinese.
Some friend told me about your org and
your amazing website. What you have done is marvellous and full of
inspiration. You probably know that there are some kind of free-hugs
activities held in China recently, not very successful though, due to
cultural differences. You know we Chinese are not used to hug thing,
especially between stranges. However, young Chinese shows huge
interested in this idea, and I believe there'll be more trying on
that. Thanks for your brilliant idea again!
Love and hug!
~Cynthia - China
Jason,
You are the BEST! Your inspiration (your mother) is the hugest
thing.....being a mother of a nearly 14 year-old that is not very
giving of hugs at this time in his life, I just go to your video and
feel like I've gotten some from you!
I sent the video to a friend of mine and she was so touched; she found
your website and let me know about it! You have done a HUGE and
BEAUTIFUL thing. I hope you know it and feel it. Remember that your
mother is SOOOOO PROUD of you! And that she is near you always. I know
it!
Love (and I mean that!)
~Lisa Hightower Camarillo CA
Hello there from Canada!!
From the moment I seen that video about free hugs I was inspired, and
actually had tears in my eyes at the wonderful reactions people had.
It is such a simple concept, but that is what makes it so magical.
This is great!!
I just bought a t-shirt and have sent this website to all my friends.
I live in a city that is quite close minded, and I think this is just
what we need to open them up.
Thank you soo much. Cheers!!
~Sue - BC Canada
Yesterday my friends went to every house...
...down my street hugging people
and when they came to my house, they charged at me. It was very funny!
KEEP HUGGING!
I'm going hugging tomorrow!
~Mathew Huxley
Hi there!
Wow, think this idea of free hugging is the best thing ever and would love
to get involved with our friends. We want to be ambassadors of the 'Hugging
Lifestyle' in Scotland. Please could you let us know how to begin...... do
we just get a tshirt and start hugging?
The people of edinburgh are going to love this!! Keep up the good work
Hugs,~Natalie & Amy xox
Hey I love what your doing!!!
One time I was at a restaurant with my mother
and my son who was 3 yrs old at the time. We were waiting for some other
people to show up, and my son saw this older woman and thought she
was my aunt and went up to her with his arms out, and she bent down
and hugged him. It was
so cute, and she was so happy, and he knew it, so he started hugging
every one
that came in or out of the restaurant! It was amazing, people were waiting
to hug him, everyone was so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think we should all hug hug
hug!!! I hug whoever I can every day, most people in my circle are close that
way. My son is 13 now, and he never leaves in the morning without his hug!!!
~Karen, Florida
Hello Jason
We all have been through hard times and I am in one of those
complicated situations involving my heart and my soul and my destiny.
When I saw what you did, it just lit this little flame called hope
inside of me and made me realize that a spark is enough to set a city
on fire.
Thank you so much for that and I hope you keep doing such an amazing
thing, I wish I could express myself better with words, but I'm afraid
i can't. So I just want you to know that my smiles now are partly
because of you.
A huge hug for you all, all the ones that are in this with Jason
Hunter, my hero.
Sincerely (I meant it)
~Antonio Grossi
Dear Mr Hunter,
My life has crumbled and it took me awhile to knock myself back to
reality and I
gave up all my faith in love. I felt so alone, so lonely and saddened
because there was practically no one that I could voice out my woes,
worries to.
However, recently, I came across your campaign and it felt so
heartwarming. Indeed, you have inspired me and gave me so much hope in
life. And I sincerely would like to thank you for that. Now, even if I
stand alone in this world, I do know that I can count of people like
you for support and rooting for me as I walk this journey! Thank you
for bringing so much warmth in this world. Cheers!
~Elena S.
Hey man its cool.
love what you guys are doing and I would love to
join. Im in London and wish there was FREE HUGS over here. Maybe when
I wear my shirt I can start my own over here lol. See you and thanks
for making the world a better place ALL WE NEED IS LOVE. Big HUG for
you. Wish there are more people like you and maybe what you do will
change many people.
~Zande - London
We can see clearly that this idea had a good reception.
Here in my town,
there is a group planning to do the same as you did. It´s really amazing
that a simple idea like yours can bring people so close nowadays. There
should be a Hugs Day. A date when we would hug everybody, a sign of hope,
and more than this, a sign of peace.
We can make a better world, we just need to stop making believe and really
make something. =)Hugs for you.
Your friend too,
~Ricardo
Jason,
I love, love, LOVE this project, this mission of yours! I am ordering
a shirt today, and plan on writing about this on my local citizen
journalism site "Hartsville Today"..an off-shoot of our city's
newspaper, the Hartsville Messenger.
I think I may see if I can start a Hug Day here in Hartsville. Thank
you for all you do and your inspiration. You are truly blessing
people.... your mom must be so proud in heaven. Thank you for all you
do. With great love and admiration.
~Jana - Hartsville, SC
Hello Mr Hunter,
I just wanted to let you know that your campaign is a great inspiration to
me. My friend Linda has kicked off plans to have a Free Hugs-day here in
Helsinki, Finland. She told me that she e-mailed you, and that you kind
enough returned her e-mail.
It will be awesome, I have kicked off a small blog campaign to let people
know about it, and maybe pray a little for it. God wants everyone to have a
hug a day, at least, I think =)
Thank you, and God bless you! I believe that many have been blessed and
helped by this wonderful grass roots expression of the love that Your Mother
had in her heart...
Best regards,
~Mathias - Helsinki, FInland
I just want to say that when this story first came to my attention
last night, I sat weeping like a baby.
There is such hope for this
world and the 'free hugs' story is the reason why. WE ARE THE PEOPLE
WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. WE are saving the world....ONE HUG AT A
TIME. GOD RICHLY BLESS ALL OF YOU INVOLVED WITH FREE HUGS. Remember...
THE SHORTEST DISTANCE BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE......IS A HUG.
~Shelly K - Canada
Let me tell you something:
you are a special person, and I think you
must try to travel with this all around the world. People need you.
The world needs this and you are the person who can do it. I love you.
P.S: Sorry, my English is not so good. I'm from Argentina and speak spanish.
~Patty - Argentina
Dear Free Huggers,
First of all, I believe all of you will be blessed for the love that
you give and share with the people around you by hugging them. I am
contacting you to turn your eye to a movement that recently arised in
Korea. Stimulated by your Free Hugs movement, few Koreans initiated a
Fre Hugs movement. Please update the "Around the World" page by
putting a cute little flag on South Korea : )
Hugs and kissess~ :>
~Chris - Korea
I just heard about FREE HUGS...

coast?
Y'all are awesome! (A hugger since birth!)
~Monica Johnson - North California
Hello from Switzerland
I've read of you, they hugged in the Frenchswisspart, near
Genevain Lausanne this Sunday in Zurich. Hugging is something
wonderful genuine.
In our superficial and consumer-oriented world, theres a
longing for Free-Hugs. It's also a form of sharing. Great wishes!!!
~Vittoria - Switzerland
All throughout High School I had one friend who gave me a daily hug.
His
hugs were just amazing. Recently, he started working with me and so,
even though we have both graduated, I was still able to get my daily hug
from this person. :)
~Ashley - Michigan
A friend of mine just emailed me about your organization and let me
start off by saying that I am blown away!
Thank you so much, and keep
up the amazing work.
B2B You are Blessed to be a Blessing....and that is what you are doing.
~Tahlia - California
Wow! Thanks for writing.
I fully support Free Hugs, and I really

Dear Jason Hunter
I just wanted say how much I love the FREE HUGS campaign. I live in
Doha, Qatar and I heard of FREE HUGS through a Christian Forum online.
It's such a great way of bringing people together and I hope its
spirit can reach here in the Middle East. I was planning of doing the
FREE HUGS thing with some friends, but it's kinda hard, but i'll keep
trying. Anyways I hope for all the best for the campaign and I hope
you reply soon.
God Bless,
~Michael - Doha, Qatar
Dear Jason,
I turned 16 last Thursday, and I thought to myself, what better way to
give
back to people then show them affection and love through one simple
gesture.
I love the idea of free-hugs and everything that its stands for. People
tell
me I have the best hug in school.
Keep on hugging
Yours truly
~Joe
Hello Jason
WOW you are amazing!
I'm sorry about your mothers death. She sounds like a beautiful
person. You are passing on her wonderful spirit with each hug. She
would be so proud of you!!! I also lost someone very special a few
years ago. Her passing was a very sad time. I received a sympathy card
from my uncle, which had a bundle of wooden sticks tied with a string
on the front. Inside the card, it read: Sticks in a bundle can not be
broken. It's so true! When you give someone a hug - you are giving
them so much, including positive strength.
I put a link to your website on mine. www.pigmentofyourimagination.com
THANK YOU
~Nancy - Canada
Hi Jason,
I do not know if you will read this mail, but just thank you
for creating such a nice movement, which is already worldwide. I am
spanish, actually living in Ireland, and just felt so attrackted to
your idea. Eventhough it seems we live in a bad world, i believe that
we all can be much happier just with a nice hug, and people will
reply!!Thank you and lots of lucks with this movement!! Write me for
whatever you may need.
~Alex - Ireland
I'm really happy to be becoming involved in what you're stiving
for.
Hugs are great,
and if everyone went out of their way to offer hugs to a stranger, the
world would be a
much happier place. Thanks for making this Free Hugs opportunity
available to my friends
and I. We'll strive for hugging excellence all across Atlantic Canada!
~Vickie - Canada

~Christian - Milan Italy
I went South Korea about a year ago and just started Free Hugs, there.
I wrote 'Free Hug' on one side and the same word in Korean on the
other side.
It was very hard. People there, and the culture there... it was so
different. I got kicked out of mall 'area' and one guy even yelled at
me saying that i was crazed. No matter what, though, I had 12 hugs in
3 hours. Mostly little kids and elders.
After this, (about a week after I've done this) I realized that there
are so many people who need hug, and who want to have a hug but they
just can't because they are not used to it.
Now I'm here and thinking that I need to go out there and start free
hug campaign.
Maybe it is the first time that I got kicked out of somewhere and
being yelled at but it still feel great at the end of the day.
Thank you Jason, and all the free-huggers for giving me this concept
and courage.
~Dante S. Korea
I want to thank you Jason,
I want to thank you Jason, for following your heart and spreading the love. It's
inspiration like this that will make the world a better place, and we need this
more now than ever (at least during my short life so far.)
Be well, one love,
~Kirk Anderson - Hillsboro, OR
You are too funny!
I just took a look at your video when you were on tbs. Wow, what a
wonderful and
hilarious video. You are too funny! Your attitude towards life is
unbelievble!
Your words of wisdom and just the way you carry yourself, is to be
admired.
Hopefully we could meet someday so that I could get a hug from the MAN.
~Heather - Tallahassee, FL
It is truly needed
Thank you for giving what you are giving to the world. It is truly
needed. May
God continue to bless you on your fascinating journey.
~Mrs. Davis - Miami, FL
Jason,
It is people like you that makes the world a better place. Keep on
doing what
you do. I truly admire how you have turned your mothers death into not
only a
business, but a business that's about make positive changes. I admire
Ghandi,
Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King and now I have added Jason "Free
Hugs" Hunter
to that small inspirational group of people. Keep inspiring people like
me,
because if you do, we will make this world a better place.
~Dan - Providence, RI
Your t-shirt is the best gift that I have ever received.
My birthday was last week and my friend gave me a Free Hugs t-shirt for
my
special day. I have to let you know Jason, that your t-shirt is the
best gift
that I have ever received! I wear it all of the time. I am a struggling
college
student right now, so I can't buy more as of now. But as soon as I
graduate, I
will be you # 1 customer. Maybe I could get a few more dollars out of
my mom
and dad so that I can buy more. Well, I will see. Anyways, I am
rambling on! I
love Free Hugs and I also think that you are hot!!!!!!!! Have a
wonderful "FREE
HUGS" day!!!!!!!!!!!
~Leigh - Houston, TX
Thank you for your persistence
The Free Hugs company is a company that is very much needed in this
world today.
I was putting gas in my car this morning and was a little upset at how
much gas
has risen over the past year when someone pulled up with a Free Hugs
shirt on.
I was very interested in the logo and what it said so I approched the
gentleman
and asked him about it. He was so excited! He told me all about the
company and
the message. I checked you guys out on the site and what you guys are
doing is
amazing! I really would like to meet you guys someday to say thank you
so much,
becuase after I received my hug and read your website, my day instantly
improved. I am ordering my shirt today and thank you again for your
persistence
in making the world a better place.
~Ally - Salt Lake City, UT
Mr. Hunter
A friend of mine was wearing your T-shirt the other day and I was
floored! I was
in awe of what you have created. The shirts are so simple and needed
and are of
great quality. She allowed me to wear one of her shirts the other day
and now
my life has changed. Everyday I am going to go out and do my part to
make a
difference in the world "One Hug at a Time." Keep doing your work and
you
officially have another Free Hugger for life.
~Lauren - Denver, CO
Conversational Piece
I saw that you had a Free Hugs t-shirt on the other day in Starbucks.
I wanted to talk to you about it, but your phone kept ringing like
crazy. But
what you said in the one of those coversations was that one of your
goals was to
get people talking to each other more. So I went home and looked on
your website
and your company is amazing!!!! What you said was so true about if we
talk to
each other more, then we will realize that yes we may have differences,
but in
many ways we are all alike. You have made me realize that I need to
talk to
family members more and especially my dad, whom I have not spoken to in
years.
I
will be ordering my shirts today so that I can begin to have more
conversations with random people. I can't wait to receive my
conversational
pieces. My Free Hugs t-shirt!!!!!!!
~Jennifer - Atlanta, GA.
You inspired me
Free Hugs spoke at my school a couple of weeks ago, and I am glad
that you did. I have many ideas that many people would think are crazy,
but
since I heard Free Hugs speak, I know that I can be whatever I plan on
being in
life. Your company has really inspired me. I hope that you can come
back again
someday.
~Adam - Lilburn, GA.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
I was searching google the other day about hugging and you guys popped
up. And I was like WOW!!!!!!!!!!! This is the coolest company I have
ever
seen!!!!!!! I am going to buy a ton of t-shirts for family and friends,
but
most of all for me. From now on, when I think of the word awesome, I am
going
to think of the Free Hugs crew!!!! Keep on rockin' and rolling.
~Jeff - St.
Louis, MO.
The reason why this world is still hanging in there is because of the
people like
you.
You are going to make a huge impact on this world like no one has
ever
seen. I am amazed at how you have taken a tragic moment in your life
and turned
it into this company. I don't know you personally, but I am so proud of
you. I
feel as if I know you anyway. We will be wearing our t-shirts all of
the time.
Don't ever stop living your dream on making this world a better place.
Like I
said, it's only because of people like you, why we are still here
anyway.
~Brenda - Waterloo, IA.
St. Patrick's Day Parade Hug
Hi! I just wanted to say thank you to the little boy who gave me a hug
on
Saturday. I was riding my Harley-Davidson Motorcycle in the St.
Patrick's Day
Parade in Atlanta, and saw him and his "Free Hugs" sign watching the
parade on
the side of the road. I just HAD to pull over and get a hug! He
offered a
business card, but I didn't have anywhere to put it, so I asked him if
he had a
website. I actually remembered it! So to the little boy in Atlanta...
Thanks!
Bikers need love too! lol! I'll pass this along to everyone I know.
(((((((HUGS))))))),
~Michelle - Atlanta,
GA.
My Free Hugs shirt brings me joy!
My friends and I were at the mall the other day and forgot that I had
my shirt
on. This family was walking towards me with their arms open wide and
was
smilling big! I was wondering why were they approaching me in this
manner,
right before I was pretty much tackled by the little kids. It was then,
that I
realized I had my shirt on. It was so amazing! I met a wonderful family
that I
will be friends with for life! Thank you Free Hugs. I look at the world
totally
different now.
~Pamela - Los Angeles, CA.
I need my shirt back...
My Free Hugs shirt has had such an impact on my family that I have not
been able
to wear it yet. The reason why is because my mom wears it all of time
and she
will not give it back. I will be ordering another one soon. Thank you
guys so
much.
~Eric - CLeveland, OH.
What your shirt mean to me
I bought a few Free Hugs t-shirts from you guys a while ago. I just had to let
you know that my family wear our shirts all of the time and I always keep one
on top of my televison. I use it as a reminder, that no matter what I am going
through in my life, everything will be okay. Thank you for the joy that Free
Hugs bring to not only my family, but also to everyone around the world!
~Angie - Saginaw, MI
Wow this is some customer service!!
I can't believe I just got an
email from the founder of the company. Thank you so much. I have
been wanting a shirt that said Free Hugs for a long time, I didn't
hear about your site or anything I just thought it would be a really
cool idea. Seriously, I was coming home from Church TODAY and I told
my friends that I wanted a free hugs shirt. So I got to my dorm room
and searched for Free Hugs Shirt on yahoo.com and it came up with your
website. I couldn't believe it. I knew I had to get one. I can't
wait til it gets here I'll probably wear it everyday for the next oh I
dont know 10 years or so. Maybe 11 I'm not really sure. haha jk. I'm
pretty sure I'm going to be the only person here at Nebraska Wesleyan
University with one of those shirts so I'll probably be giving out a
ton of hugs and I look forward to that. A lot. Great Idea! I'm
really glad this wasn't some random t-shirt company, but it was an
actual company with a purpose and really awesome goals. I am proud of
you for that. Free Hugs-how awesome is that?!?! So how many shirts
have you sold so far?? I bet it's quite a few. Well thank you very
much and keep up the good work.
~Jarryd Widhalm - Lincoln, NE
Dear Jason,
Thank you so much for the personal attention you gave to my friend Pam when she
received her FREE HUGS T-Shirt earlier this week. Unfortunately such customized
service is the exception these days. I really appreciate it! She was even more
delighted when I told her that I met you on the Square in Marietta, April 2003.
Sincerely,
~Alice Ray-Overstreet - Lakeland, FL
...I Think It Is Wonderful!
I am taking a chance here but that is what life is all about! My name is Josey and I was at the park with my son and we were playing, but on my way back to our car I found this little card folded up and it had FREE HUGS on it. I opened it and of course me being who I am (thinking everything has a reason) decided to check into this. I just got your website and I think it is wonderful! Wow!!!
May God bless you for doing what you're supposed to.
~Josey - Canton, GA
...Truly Touching
Dear Mr. Hunter,
Your story is truly touching. I'm so glad to hear that there is someone else in the world who believes that hugs are not meant only for special occasions or loved ones (though they are completely welcomed for both). Hugs are perfect for everyday. They are given in both happiness and sadness. They can be given to dear friends or complete strangers. There is no wrong way or time to give/recieve a hug. What you have brought today's society is a beautiful thing that will hopefully continue to spread and improve the quality of life for many. I walked outside yesterday and triped over a package outside my front door. My mom and I ordered a FREE HUGS t-shirt and hoodie about a week ago, but we didn't expect it to arrive on my birthday! Just thought I'd let you know that I'm proudly wearing FREE HUGS merchandise...not to mention drawing a lot of interest in the company/program itself. I've been spreading the word around school and have gotten a lot of positive feedback from both students and teachers. Thank you for what you've given to the world.
~Lindsey Howard - Alpharetta, GA
Keep On Hugging!!
Hi Jay--
My daughter loved the FREE HUGS T shirt and hoodie, and they arrived just in time for her 15th birthday!! (She hasn't taken them off since!!) With so many mixed messages and issues about initimacy in our world, it is nice to see the message of expressing caring behaviour being spread!!
Keep on hugging!!
~Pam Howard - Alpharetta, GA
...AMAZING!
As far as I am concerned, the whole world should have one. My colleague, wore his t-shirt in my presence a couple of weeks ago. The number of "FREE HUGS" dispensed were AMAZING. Good work, you!
~Kristi A. Gacke - Bellevue, NE
Try Me And See
People continuously ask if my shirt is for real, I tell them "Try me and see". They are constantly surprised that a perfect stranger would just give them a hug, for nothing. Thanks for making a difference in my life.
~Gail Monges - Lincoln, RI
Poem By Megan
I hope you have an absolutley wonderful holiday break. FREE HUGS has seriously worked!
MEGAN
Cuz everybody wants to hide their secrets away
Nobody wants to stand up to the pain
But I will stand up to the pain
Wake up and fight again
If you could...
Dance with me through this rain
We will fight...
Fight again

Thanks For Everything
Dear Mr. Hunter,
Hi my name is Joanne and at the beginning of the school year you came to my school, Northglenn Middle. You are a great person. You really changed the lives of the kids here. There are some girls who
have never been that nice to me and they came up to me and apologized and gave me a hug. I just want to say thank you and I wish you a very merry christmas.
Thanks for everything!
~Joanne - Denver, CO
...A Big Hit With The Ladies
Well I thought you would be interested in knowing that not only does your shirt promote a worthy cause, it is also a big hit with the ladies. I decided to wear the shirt on Saturday night with all my friends and they LOVED it,,,,the next thing you know, these girls that we had never met before came up and wanted to get their picture taken. We have been talking back and forth ever since! If anything happens, you will be the first one invited to the wedding....hahaha. Thanks again for all of your support with HERO and our Christmas Adopt a Family.
~Garrett - Marrietta, GA
We Connected With Hugs
I met some "Fee Hugs" people a couple of weeks ago in Willie's and because they were wearing their t-shirts... we connected with hugs. That meeting sent me to your site to get my own shirt and I will be buying more as gifts and for me! I just love the idea and I love to hug. Keep up the amazing work! It's really a blessing!
Have a fabulous evening!

That Ever-So-Needed Angel
Jason,
On behalf of my husband, and our family, I want to take this opportunity to thank you so very much for your kindness, and concern by reaching out to our son, Billy, yesterday at the sight of the accident. You were that ever-so-needed Angel, taking the time out of your busy day to reach out to someone. People come in and out of lives for a reason, regardless if it's for a few seconds, minutes, years or a lifetime. We may never know the reason, but however we touch someone; it is indeed why I believe we have been put on this earth. I also believe that we are all connected: When I love someone, I love others and when I reach out to one, it is as if I reach out to others. We all need to touch each other's spirits and take the time to share, to embrace, and to care.
Billy sent us your web site and how proud your mother must be that you took your sadness and found a way to not only bring great joy to yourself, but to others. (Since my mother has passed away, I know the heartache that can stay in one's heart.) What we give away with good and loving intentions always comes back to us in so many surprising and unexpected ways.
God bless you, Jason and thanks again for not only showing concern and compassion to your fellowman, but also for spreading "FREE HUGS" - we all need one - to every corner of the world. You will be in my prayers for continued success in reaching the entire universe. It sounds like you are doing what you love to do. You cannot ask for anything better than that!
Sincerely,
~Helen Sawyer - Norcross, GA
God Bless You!
Hi Jason,
I am simply marvelous and elated to hear from you! This is a pleasant surprise. I must share an amazing story with you. I saw an old friend today whom I had not laid eyes on for years. The first thing I did was to give him a great big hug. It felt so good! You are wonderful and a good son. God Bless You! I can tell that you were raised right. You are very blessed to have had such a special woman as your mother. What a great way to keep her spirit alive. I will also let you know of any events where your presence is needed. Keep spreading joy and peace! You inspire me! Consider yourself HUGGED!
Love, Peace, and Happiness
~Natalie - Atlanta, GA

Thank You So Much Jason...
Yes I hope that this helps my friend too. He lived here in Colorado when Case and I first started emailing you. He knows all about FREE HUGS. He had to move home to N.C. because his mom's lung cancer had gotten worse..... She just passed away last week. I have talked with him, and just thought that your t-shirt would make an extra touch for him. I wish I could give him a hug right now, but now because of you, I am able to in our own special way :)
Thank you again, and I am excited and feel so grateful to be able to spread the word, of FREE HUGS........
~Angie - Denver, CO
...A Total Success In N.Y.
Thank you for your reply and letting me know that our picture was online. Your shirt was a total success in NY, as I also wore it to a Yankee's game on Friday night, and I must have received over 100 hugs in the span of 3 hours in Hartford, CT. The concept is so simple and brilliant. I am so glad that I ran into you at Music Midtown. It was pretty amazing, I was getting hugs from all guys, girls, young and old. All ends of the spectrums. And even people that did not give me a hug, it made them smile or they told me what a great shirt. Either way it is a great concept and I love spreading the word. I am a natural born hugger anyway. Thank you for opening this world of love and humanity. You guys should think about doing bumper stickers, because I would absolutely put one on my Maxima. Best of luck. Thanks again.
~Louis J. Boestfleisch - Athens, GA
Thanks A Bunch...
Hi! I wanted to say that you're welcome for my support and that there's no thanks needed. I read your story and it made me sooooooooo sad!!!!!! God bless her soul as well as yours. I'm willing to help you and support you however you need it. I want to get some more of your products as well! Your mother let everyone know that they mattered, and after reading that, I've made it a resolution to do the same. Thank you so much Mr. Hunter, and please let me know whenever you are holding something in the community. Let me know how I can help you! Thanx a bunch and God bless.
~Kia Beech - Marietta, GA

I Have Faith...
When I first met Jason I was having a very rough time in my life. I had just found out that I had Cancer and I could not believe that this was happening to me. I felt as if my world was ending, but being able to speak with Jason and hearing his story, really moved me to become a fighter. Over the past few months I have had many ups and downs, but I have faith that everything will work out for the best. I wish him the best with FREE HUGS.
A great idea from a great and loving person.
~Loren - Boston, MA
Jason,
I am sure that you get tons of these emails a day, but just a quick note to say....you have done a GREAT job. Until a few weeks ago I didn't know anything about FREE HUGS. My best friend came home from school and was like "oh my gosh we have to find this site and get a shirt"...she looked and for some reason could not find it...I found it today and as soon as I get some money I will be purchasing her a shirt for her birthday and one for myself for my birthday....both this month, so we will be spreading our love through ATL soon!!!
Keep up the good work.
~Lauren Purdy - Atlanta, GA
I Remember When...
I am one of Josephine Hunter's children and the sister of the creator of FREE HUGS. I remember when my brother came home for our mother's funeral and made this poster. The poster said "FREE HUGS". He said, I'm going to South Beach and walk around with this sign. I received some phone calls from friends telling me that they or someone they knew had seen my brother walking around with a sign in South Beach. They said, he was getting a lot of responses. He came home and began sharing how effective the sign was. He met so many people that needed to know that they did matter and that there are still people in this world that care about people. He has such a passion for this cause. I know that our mother is smiling down from heaven as she sees her son carry on her message of hope and love. She really did believe that everyone mattered and had a purpose for being here. This project is from the heart of God. My prayer is that FREE HUGS catch on fire throughout the world and that we learn to live in peace a harmony with all of our brothers and sisters. Jason, I am very proud of you. Keep going and don't stop until FREE HUGS is available around the world!
~R.Hunter Berry - Miami, FL
My Old Friend
My name is Patty Bethel, and Jason Hunter, known to me affectionately as "Uncle Jay" is one of my oldest and dearest friends. I had the pleasure of knowing Jason's mother. She was my Sunday School teacher and a true woman of God. She always made me and every child in our neighborhood feel at home in her house. She gave the perfect mix of love and dicipline. It is no surprise to me or any one in the Richmond Heights family that Jason would found a company like FREE HUGS. He is a beautiful person who always has a word to make you smile when you need it most. I love him very much, and if you ever have the pleasure of meeting him, I know you will too.
~Patty Bethel - Richmond Heights, FL
...In Her Memory Is Wonderful
Jason, I don't know if you remember me, but I'm Patty's oldest sister, Alison. I remember your mom from church and I think what you have done in her memory is wonderful. I'm going to get all my girlfriends here in D.C. T-shirts and then encourage them to write about their experience!
~Alison Bethel - Washington, D.C.
...You Can Achieve It!
2005 is going to be the most amazing year we've ever had!! Even the sound of 2005 vs 2004 is so much more inspirational. It rhymes with everything positive! 2005 is the year to strive, come alive, survive, thrive, etc. etc.
I want all of you to dream bigger than you've ever imagined, accomplish more than you could ever dream! :) Nothing can slow you down or stop you but yourself. Don't ever let anything hold you back from enjoying your life because the only person guaranteed to be with you always and stay true to you always is YOU!!! Stay true to your creator and your morals and virtues and don't change for anyone or anything. This is the first day of the rest of your life. Use it wisely. The world has been changing dramatically and we have to realize that our time is extremely precious. Cherish every day
and every moment.
Love yourself and cherish the people in your life always. Don't ever leave things on a bad note. Time does truly heal all wounds. Stay focused on your goals. Never forget, if you can dream it, you can achieve it!
~Nikki Giavasis - Beverly Hills, CA
I Remember When...
I remember seeing your big head on Auburn Avenue about 3 or 4 years ago with a sign that read "FREE HUGS". I get it. God has shown you what to do and you ran with it. Sometimes we have to stop and listen because he may be talking to us.
~Jennifer Swann - Stockbridge, GA
I Appreciate...
I hope that all is well with you. I appreciate the holiday blessings and wishes. My office mate here told me last week that he's going to go on your site, and purchase your shirts as holiday gifts for some of his family back in Charleston, S.C. Every time I wear my shirt here at work, it always turns into a conversation piece for a person that may not have seen me wear it before. Of course I always turn them on to your site. Wish you continuous success man in all that you do. If there is ever anything that I can do, just let me know.
~Metric Simpson - Decatur, GA
Love Your Site
Thank you very much, and thank you for the opportunity to explore your site, what a wonderful concept. I heard someone say one day that "Every problem we have as human beings is a love problem." You have a great answer to that problem. How does it feel to be part of the solution?
Your site is wonderful, not just because you have great tees! (and you do) it really is a feel good place to visit.
Much Success to you and I pray your hug tees circle the world.
~Janice - Lithonia, GA
It Made Me Cry
I really enjoyed your web site and the reason behind it. It made me cry. I always thought that hugs make you feel warm and special. You have the be the most amazing man to have started this company. You are truly an inspiration. I can feel you.... It only takes one person to send a message to many that can change the world or at least the people around us. I have been praying and seeking guidance from God to send me a sign, and I think this could be it. Sometimes all we have to do is listen or open our eyes and we will realize he does answer our prayers.
~Sonya Dills - Acworth, GA
...An Awesome Idea
This is an awesome website and an awesome idea. I am so proud of you and your success, I hope things continue to move successfully in your favor and from the looks of the website I'm sure it will. I'm going to let all my friends know about your company and pass on the site address to them and
hopefully they will purchase some items. Boy, I'm so proud of you.
Yes, I'm going to purchase something here real soon. Please keep in touch.
And until next time...
Smile:)

Touching Every Person...
This dream of touching every person in the world and letting them know that their existence in this life is important will become a part of history one day. I did not understand the magnitude until I had the chance to experience it first hand at the Music Midtown Festival in 2004. To hug someone that you do
not know and encourage that person in some kind of way, is not only therapeutic to that particular person but to yourself as well. Needless to say, I was able to put my life into perspective. There are people everyday that have not had a hug in so long that it seems odd that "some guy" is giving them out for free. Free is not in the sense of dollars, but free in no strings attached. You owe nothing in return. But what you receive is knowing that you are important to the cycle of life. I encourage everyone to wear your shirt out one day and see the reactions you receive. Who knows, you may make a new friend or encourage someone that may be depressed. We all can make a difference if we just try. Jason continue to use your energy and positivity to do what you have been called to do in your life. Your courage to step outside the box and do what is not expected is what I admire most about you.
~Kishia Shooks - Douglasville, GA
Hello,
I really love your concept of FREE HUGS. I have always been a hugger, now it is official. I found out about your site from a friend of mine. I have started spreading the word here in Orlando already. I can't wait to start wearing my shirts.
MUCH SUCCESS!!
~Regina Watkins - Orlando, FL
My First Hug...
So I wore the beautiful black FREE HUGS shirt you sent me - to work yesterday...and when i was leaving, after a LONG day. A hippy-looking guy and woman passed by me. I wasn't paying much attention because I was so focused on where I was going. Then all of a sudden in a proper British accent, the man asked 'Can, I have a hug please?' I stopped and started smiling. 'Sure' I replied. I stopped and gave the guy a REAL hug. The woman stood in awe and said 'wow, well isn't that just lovely'. I wished the man a good day and headed off on my way. Once I started walking, I realized (from a first-hand encounter), the real power of what Free-Hugs could mean for an individual, for a society, and ultimately for the world. That man and woman would not have given me a second look had it not been for the t-shirt i was wearing. Now, I have left an impression on them for life, from a single 'remarkable' encounter - not to mention, the joy I felt within myself knowing that I am living God's purpose... by loving all man. Truly powerful and I had to share it. I am truly honored that you have allowed me to be a part of your team, and I hope that I can help to make FREE HUGS an international success... as big as I know in my heart it can become. I am ready to change the world Richmond Heights style... and I think if it is worked right, the world will be ready too.
Take care and Thanks.

Got My Hug-On And Can't Stop!
Hey Jason and All!
I had a great time meeting you 3 at Pride Atlanta Sunday. I bought shirts and got my hug on! So much so, when I wore my shirt around town today I had to keep huggin! Each smile, each person, each day that was brightened made me feel even better than I already did! So simple an idea, yet so empowering. People read my shirt and it made them smile. Even if they, in this insular world we live in, did not ask for a hug, the idea made them smile.
If there is anything I can do to help you continue the mission of your mother's legacy, please let me know. I am a PR/Marketing Consultant, my skills are at your disposal. My Heart has been totally lifted and I have not felt this much joy for a long time. THANK YOU!
PS- If you ever need an extra hugger for a local event, let me know!
HUG ON!
~Kevin Brady - Atlanta, GA
The Idea Is Spreading!!!
Hey Jason,
You beat me to it! Good for you! I recently was given this same idea during a prayer/meditation session about HUGS and spreading the concept publically at various festivals, etc. I already give hugs almost everywhere I go. My idea was to call it, "Gentle Hugs" with my slogan of "...pass em' on!" I even received confirmation a couple of times since, just in random conversations with co-workers or friends. I was gonna' research setting up a vendor tent for next year. I feel the same as you, that we all have the ability to spread love and light to one another even without any words...but simply with a sincere loving hug because God/the Universe/ the Source/ Earth energy...(whatever you want to call it) can use us individually as conduits to provide to others what they might need at that 'unique and specific moment'. A smile and hug are VERY powerful forces that can cheer us up, provide healing energy, break down barriers, make us more 'in-touch', aware, enlighted, and hopefully one day unify us ALL as brothers and sisters that are ALL RELATED somehow regardless of race or nationality, on this little blue planet.
Seeing this SITE "FREE HUGS" encourages me, warms my heart and spirit, and confirms to me that there is a level of consciousness trying to awaken and surface for us all out there. The need is definately here...NOW!!
I hope to meet you this weekend sometime at Pride Atlanta.
loving hugs,
~Ken - Atlanta, GA
FREE HUGS!
Hello Jason
I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you that I think you're quite amazing for having started FREE HUGS. It's a brilliant idea and one that I've supported for years. I don't think I've ever gone a day without giving or receiving a hug... My friend Melissa (Melissa McGhie) is wearing one of your t-shirts today and seeing that just brought a smile to my face. Thanks for your perseverance!! I've just bought myself 3 t-shirts and will soon be on the path to become a hugging fool!!
All the best,
~Stephanie - London, England
Thank You
Hugs Jason,
We met you and your staff at the Taste of Marietta festival on Sunday. We loved the hugs and T-shirts. A group of us single women will be wearing our FREE HUGS T-shirts to Johnnie's Hideaway on Tuesday for their 25th anniversary. We are gonna tell everyone about your company and, now that I have the history, you and your mother's story.
Thanks for the inspiration.
Hugs back to ya.
~Sandra - Marietta, GA
Wishing You Success
I purchased a Free-Hugs T-shirt from you yesterday and I just wanted to let you know that I am very pleased with my purchase. I wish you the best of luck in the future with your business. It's rare to see a young Black Man focus on a plan then execute it.
I RESPECT YOUR HUSTLE BRA !!!!

Every Hug Counts
Well I visited your site today-And was happy to see my photo on there from the Midtown Festival in Atlanta. I watched the video and it really made me feel good. I want to thank you for adding such a positive feature to the Midtown Festival. It really made me feel good and I also Love to make people smile.
My Story:
My name is Mark Strickland and I am 33 years old. I worked in Hospitals for over 8 years of my life. The patients I worked with were the ones with chronic lungs diseases. Lung cancer, Emphysema and many others. I went to work everyday not only to treat these people but to make them have a good day even when it was a hard day. Inside I knew that what I was doing for them was only a maintenence therapy. We dont have cures for these diseases, even though they are now doing lung transplants, many will never be healthy enough to undergo this procedure.
I was able to see so many people smile and sometimes even laugh when they knew that might be their last day, even when they were in a lot of pains and very rarely could take a breathe without it being a struggle.
Some of my patients could not even talk, on ventilators or breathing machines (life support), but I still got them to smile and that is worth more money that any hospital could ever pay me. So I understand what you get out of making someone smile. In day to day life we never know what is around the corner, so before we turn it, how about a hug and a smile?????????
Take care-
God Bless-
~Mark Strickland - Anderson, SC
He Put Me Under His Wing...
I had met Jason about eight months ago. I met him the first day that I started my job. He put me under his wing and helped me at work and with my everyday life stuff. He is a wonderful man and father, and truly devoted to the FREE HUGS company. I am able to say this because he has a heart of gold, and hugs that help me along my journey of life. Jason, always knows when someone needs a hug or just someone to talk to. I thank God for sending a guy like Jason to come into many people's lives and give them a new way to look at things. I just wanted to thank the FREE HUGS company and Jason for the support they have given to me and the people around me. When I wear my shirt, I make sure to hug those in need. There is always someone out there that needs a hug to let them know that someone cares. Thanks....
~Paula - Marietta,GA

"I Had Lunch With God."
A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her some chips. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word. As twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave; but before he did he went back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.
When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!" Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked, "Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?" She replied! "I ate potato chips in the park with God." However, before her son responded, she added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected." Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime! Embrace all equally! Have lunch with God.......bring chips.

Are You An Angel Or Something?
I was driving home from a meeting this evening about 5, stuck in traffic on Colorado Blvd., and the car started to choke and splutter and die - I barely managed to coast, cursing, into a gas station, glad only that I would not be blocking traffic and would have a somewhat warm spot to wait for the tow truck. It wouldn't even turn over. Before I could make the call, I saw a woman walking out of the "quickie mart" building, and it looked like she slipped on some ice and fell into a gas pump, so I got out to see if she was okay. When I got there, it looked more like she had been overcome by sobs than that she had fallen; she was a young woman who looked really haggard with dark circles under her eyes. She dropped something as I helped her up, and I picked it up to give it to her. It was a nickel.
At that moment, everything came into focus for me: the crying woman, the ancient Suburban crammed full of stuff with 3 kids in the back (1 in a car seat), and the gas pump reading $4.95. I asked her if she was okay and if she needed help, and she just kept saying "I don't want my kids to see me crying," so we stood on the other side of the pump from her car. She said she was driving to California and that things were very hard for her right now.
So I asked, "And you were praying?" That made her back away from me a little but I assured her I was
not a crazy person and said, "He heard you, and He sent me." I took out my card and swiped it through the card reader on the pump so she could fill up her car completely, and while it was fueling walked to the next door McDonald's and bought 2 big bags of food, some gift certificates for more, and a big cup of coffee. She gave the food to the kids in the car who attacked it like wolves, and we stood by the pump eating fries and talking a little. She told me her name, and that she lived in Kansas City. Her boyfriend left 2 months ago and she had not been able to make ends meet. She knew she wouldn't have money to pay rent Jan 1, and finally in desperation had finally called her parents, with whom she had not spoken in about 5 years. They lived in California and said she could come live with them and try to get on her feet there. So she packed up everything she owned in the car. She told the kids they were going to California for Christmas, but not that they were going to live there.
I gave her my gloves, a little hug and said a quick prayer with her for safety on the road. As I was walking over to my car, she said, "So, are you like an angel or something?" This definitely made me cry.. I said, "Sweetie, at this time of year angels are really busy, so sometimes God uses regular people." It was so incredible to be a part of someone else's miracle. And of course, you guessed it, when I got in my car it started right away and got me home with no problem. I'll put it in the shop tomorrow to check, but I suspect the mechanic won't find anything wrong.
Sometimes the angels fly close enough to you that you can hear the flutter of their wings...
