What is FREE HUGS?
FREE HUGS is a Social Experience company committed to promoting social value. We strive to tap into the heart of the community through creativity and innovative ideas in order to create opportunities that transform peoples’ lives.

How did it begin?
FREE HUGS was inspired by founder Jason Hunter’s mother Mrs. Josephine Clayton Hunter who passed away in 2001. Sitting at his mother’s funeral service, Jason listened as almost every speaker shared how Mrs. Hunter loved hugging people and letting them know how much they matter. Touched by the speakers, Jason acted on this inspiration and walked the streets of his hometown, Miami’s South Beach, with a sign that simply stated “FREE HUGS”. Hence, FREE HUGS was born.

What do you guys do?
With grass root marketing tactics we promote products and ideas that are in line with our core values and the FREE HUGS message. Through speaking engagements, festivals, charitable walks, corporate and school functions, and volunteering efforts we are able to achieve this goal.

Our efforts present the opportunity to share our message with corporations as a tool for team building, to schools as a character builder, and community organizations to build bridges between people from all walks of life. Partnering with various charities, we use our unique approach to raise money and awareness for their causes.

We also organize FREE HUGS teams around the country to do the same and spread the FREE HUGS lifestyle.

What is the FREE HUGS lifestyle?
The FREE HUGS lifestyle is a carefree approach to life. Living the FREE HUGS lifestyle proves that you are committed to making positive changes not only within yourself, but also within your community and the people around you.

Are you guys a non-profit?
FREE HUGS is not a non-profit entity. However, FREE HUGS donates a portion of each sale of its merchandise to various non-profit organizations. In the near future FREE HUGS will add a non-profit division.
